"The Human Services department allows you to have so many career opportunities and expand your career goals. The program has allowed me to add three additional minors to my major while still allowing me to graduate on time. Within the department, you receive one-on-one attention from staff and faculty who always ensure you are receiving the best education possible. The department of Human Services has been a good fit for me because the options for careers are endless and I have been able to gain valuable knowledge that has benefited myself and my future clients."

"I am currently a junior majoring in Human Services and double minoring in Financial Literacy and Aging Studies. I went through two other majors before discovering Human Services and I never looked back. I was a very timid and lost freshman, but this department took me under their wing and guided me until I was ready to fly on my own. I am now so involved in the Health and Human Services College and never fail to feel supported and know I have a multitude of individuals to turn to; whether that be for help in the classroom, planning for the future, or just everyday stress.

Helping others in a social work field is my passion, and it is so comforting to know that I am effectively being educated to someday support individuals in need on my own. This department consistently proves themselves to be reliable, personable, and well-organized.鈥�

"My human services major has allowed me to take a wide range of classes that have practical meaning. The information in the classes is relevant to what I want to do in the future.

My professors make the classes engaging and interesting. My favorite part is the wide range of options I will have with my degree in human services. I am also able to balance school full-time and working part-time, which is essential to my education."

"I was clueless as to what path I wanted to take when I first got to EIU. It wasn't until I took an introduction to Human Services course that I felt I had found my place.

I was excited to learn and discuss essential topics for understanding the human population and its needs. Courses likechild and human development,family relationships, and addiction, all provide me with the necessary skills to better advocate and empower individuals at all stages of life. My time at my internship site (Fit-2-Serve) and within the child practicum lab, provided me with professional experiences that exposed me to real-life applications.鈥�
