Offered on a monthly basis, the ISTS workshop series offers general tips, tricks, and specific features and functionalities of EIU supported technologies with, in most cases, the subsequent week focusing more specifically on accessibility in each of these technologies.

Digital Accessibility Training Series

When: Tuesdays, 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM

Where: Eclassroom, Booth 4450

  • September 22nd | Accessible Data Tables: Headers, Scopes, and Layouts Learn how to properly structure both simple and nested tables for assistive technologies using precise row and column header designations and scope attributes.

  • October 20th | Complex Charts & Graphs: Contrast, Patterns, and Descriptions Discover how to make intricate data visualizations fully inclusive by utilizing comprehensive long text descriptions, high-contrast color palettes, and distinct pattern fills.

  • November 10th | Maps & Spatial Data: SVG Accessibility and Text Equivalents Explore techniques for translating visual geographical information into accessible formats through text equivalents, interactive SVG map optimization, and detailed alt text for complex spatial layers.

  • September 24th | Turning Over a New Leaf for Digital Accessibility We are officially turning over a new leaf in course design! Join us for a high-energy, interactive challenge that puts you in a friendly race to experience the real-time impact of accessible versus inaccessible digital activities within your online courses.

  • October 22nd | Being Digitally Inaccessible is Scary We are taking the scary out of inaccessibility! Through carefully guided, empathetic simulations, you will step into your students' shoes to gain a profoundly respectful perspective on the hidden hurdles they navigate in their course materials every day.

  • November 12th | We're so Thankful for Digital Accessibility We are gathering together to reflect on what we are thankful for in inclusive education. This engaging, discussion-based session focuses on sharing peer insights, exploring new concepts, and building concrete action plans for the spring semester ahead.
